Pellitory Roots Oil (روغن عقرقرحا).Pellitory is a small, hairy, stem less, herbaceous perennial plant that normally grows about 3-4 feet tall. The plant is found growing in alpine or rock garden. It is widely used because of its pungent efficacy in relieving toothache and in promoting a free flow of saliva. The Pharmacopoeia directs that it be used as a masticatory, and in the form of lozenges for its reflex action on the salivary glands in dryness of the mouth and throat. The root bears the medicinal treasures offered by this botanical. A potent sialogogue, pellitory root stimulates the flow of saliva in cases of xerostomia (dry mouth). It makes a fine gargle used to dispel toothache.A muscle and joint rub is also manufactured from pellitory, and it is commonly used in cases of rheumatism. Some herbalists believe that this plant can benefit diabetics.
